Have you ever been somewhere and thought “how have they got an ISO certificate on the wall?”.  

Being completely honest, you’d probably think the same here. However, you’d be going in as a Quality Manager specifically for that reason. You’d be responsible for making sure no one else thinks that when they get here.

There’s been a period of rapid growth in the last few years, which plays a part in the reason they’re not up to scratch with Quality, and they’re looking for someone that can come in to turn that around as they look to grow again (this time on more stable foundations).

You’d be going in to a business where no one needs convincing of the fact that there are problems within the department (refreshing I know) and a result of that you’d have full backing and support from everyone as you look to make changes and improvements on how things are done and shape the Quality function into something that’ll aid their ambitious growth plans.

There are a couple of decent QEs in there already, however self admittedly they probably don’t have the experience that it’ll take to make and sustain these improvements. You’ll take them under your wing as you lead by example on how it should be done, so there’s some mentoring opportunities in it for you as well if that’s something you’re keen on.

Ultimately, it’s not going to be easy to start with and it might get quite frustrating at times (full transparency here) but they wouldn’t be looking for someone like you if it wasn’t going to be, would they?

Ideally, you’d probably come from fabrication or something quite ‘heavy’ and ‘manual’ in terms of background so you’d be able to apply existing experience of making these improvements and changes in a specific environment, but don’t let that put you off if you don’t.

The job’s in Oldham and salary is probably anywhere between £50-60k DOE, though there could be flex in that. There are progression opportunities as the business looks to grow and there’s a real chance to make your own mark here.
