InstepUK

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority has introduced funding specifically for manufacturing organisations who have a site(s) based within the Greater Manchester region.  The programmes are fully funded by the European Social Fund as part of GMCA’s three-year Skills for Growth programme (logos attached).  Through their research GMCA identified where the key skills gaps were and where skills support was needed.  As a result, InstepUK have created two unique programmes to align with this feedback focusing on the needs of manufacturers; Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing Management.

Their programmes are short courses, delivered via a blended learning model and they can be flexible in terms of delivery to meet employer needs.  Both large businesses and small and medium enterprises (SME’s) are able to benefit from this project.

We can provide more information when you get in touch, but in brief they cover:

  • Lean Foundation – designed for production/shop floor staff or those with little/no knowledge of lean principles.  Can be delivered over 2 full days or 4 x ½ days and they can deliver at your employer’s premises (if you have a suitable training space and minimum of 6 learners).  They also run open cohorts, if employers have fewer learners or wish to benefit from sharing best practice with others outside of their organisation.

  • Implementation Lean Processes – designed for those not directly involved in production such as supervisors, shift managers, quality managers etc.  This programme focuses on the knowledge and skills around implementing processes to drive forward Lean application.  Can be delivered over 2 full days or 4 x ½ days and they can deliver at your employer’s premises (if they have a suitable training space and minimum of 6 learners).  They can also run open cohorts as above.

  • Manufacturing Management – they offer accredited (CMI Level 3 Award or Level 3 Certificate) or non-accredited options.  This Management programme has been designed specifically for a manufacturing environment; aimed at developing leadership and management principles in the workplace and helping leaders to develop their own skill set, to drive high performance in their teams.  Flexible delivery either virtually or face-to-face (or combination of).  Delivery depends on the option chosen but for an example the fully accredited Level 3 CMI Certificate is delivered either over 5 days or 10 x ½ days.

We would encourage employers to contact us for more information, or to get in touch with InstepUK directly to discuss your individual training needs so that they can agree suitable dates/times for delivery.
