Bid Manager
This job has been filled.
Lots of people shy away from getting hands on after they’ve already seemed to move past being at the coalface…
You’d be joining this business as a Bid Manager with full autonomy and the opportunity to build a team underneath you. They want you to have a hand in the recruitment process which is why you’ll have to do some of the more hands-on stuff (bid writing etc) to begin with until your feet are under the table for you to get a good enough picture of who you need to bring in.
If you’re someone that’d see that as a step back then it’s probably best not to carry on reading.
You’ll essentially be looking after the non-technical aspects of the tendering process in a manufacturing business supplying to the public sector most of the time. You’ll obviously understand how public sector bidding works and if you’ve ever done anything in procurement then it’d be a massive bonus. It’s high value contracts with tenders typically anywhere between £1-5M.
The MD is really good at setting the strategic direction of the business and has some specific projects in mind that’ll facilitate the growth so you’ll work closely with him to increase chances of success with those, liaising with the technical guys to consider resource planning will clearly play a part in that too.
Making the right “Bid / No Bid” decision is obviously crucial for increasing the chances of winning profitable contracts and avoiding wasted resources on prospects with lower chances of success, so looking into both successful and unsuccessful bids will give insight into what’s worked and what hasn’t historically, helping you to increase chances of winning in future.
The business is on a massive growth trajectory and there are so many opportunities to get your teeth into (UK and Overseas) with this, so if you’re keen to be part of that growth in a place that really values its people and actually make a difference somewhere then get in touch.
The office is based in Wakefield and there’d be an expectation you’re in the office most of the time based on your involvement with the technical team, but they work flexible hours and are pretty relaxed if you need to work from home the odd day. Salary is flexible based on experience.
