Would you class yourself as versatile and tenacious?

As a Production Planner for this business in Bolton, you’d need to be able to answer yes to that question.

You’ll end up wearing a few different hats in this role and wouldn’t be confined to just one aspect of the job, so if you like variety and a bit of a challenge then keep reading.

Obviously, your main responsibilities will be maintaining production plans, maximising efficiency and ensuring customer satisfaction in different ways, but you’ll also get the opportunity to be involved in a wider aspect of the business such as setting improvement targets for the site and assisting in training and mentoring others in the department.

The plant moves quickly so experience of high volume/fast paced manufacturing would be really good, along with proficiency in ERP/MRP, ideally SAP or SYSPRO.

There is a bit of a perceived negative in this. It’s an 18-24 month contract with no guarantee of extension. The reason it’s a contract initially is because their current Planners have been seconded as part of a company-wide SAP implementation so you’d essentially be backfilling them until that’s done, but you probably know from experience that it’s likely they wont return back to their original roles after completing it.

It's actually quite nice of them to call it a contract, some places would call it a perm role and then just make you redundant after 18 months instead, so at least they’re being honest about it. Also, if you think about it, a lot of people think about making a move after 2 years anyway, whether it’s progression in the same business or moving somewhere different, it’s probably quite rare for someone to stay in the exact same position for much longer than that.

For the 2 years (or more) that you’re there, you’ll be welcomed warmly and will have a supportive and inclusive culture to settle in to; they’re a business that really care about and look after you – your boss has worked here for 25 years so that should give you some proof of that.

Salary wise, it’s looking at around the 35-40k mark and you’d be based in Bolton. If you could be the person they’re looking for and want to know more about the role then get in touch and I’d be happy to share some more info.

Oh, and there’s also 2 roles here, so if you have any decent planner mates, tell them to give me a ring as well.
