How would you define a positive working culture?

We've been retained to find a Senior Production Engineer for this business in Bolton, and that’s a question you’d definitely be asked at interview.

They’re massive on culture and getting the right person which fits in with the ethos they have is absolutely paramount to them – something that is often overlooked these days, so long as you can ‘do the job’, but not here.

Day to day, you’ll be responsible for providing technical support and using your lean/CI knowledge to continuously improve equipment and production line output, solve problems, develop improvement plans for current processes and bring new ideas/approaches to the table.

The plant moves quickly, so experience within high volume manufacturing is essential and being a Senior, you’ll need to have around 7-10 years’ experience given you’ll act as a mentor for the other Production Engineers in the team and be their first line of support when they face a challenge.

Essentially, you’ll be the Engineering Manager’s right hand and will act as a middle layer between him and the rest of the Engineers; you’ll be there to support with the hands on/boots on the ground stuff like problem solving across the production line, but would also focus your time on the more strategic things such as production/process line layout designs and expansion plans as you work with the senior team– best of both worlds really.

You’ll have a real opportunity to introduce your own ideas (which they’ll listen to) and ultimately put your own stamp on this role – the autonomy is great. You obviously won’t be running the joint but your boss is really approachable & open minded when it comes to new ideas. They’re already pretty advanced as far as lean is concerned, but it’s called continuous improvement for a reason – there’s still plenty of work to do.

They’ve quite a hefty training budget so there’s loads of room for your development as well, and they’re also heavily investing in the site so it’s an exciting time to be joining as you help with the expansion by getting involved in Capex/investment planning.

Salary is around the £45k mark with decent pension, private healthcare and bonus, and you’d be based at the site in Bolton.

Give me a shout if you could be interested and want to find out more.
