Production/CI Engineer largely experienced in the automotive sector, I particularly enjoy identifying and removing waste activities from processes through team orientated process mapping and continuous improvement exercises; I have a passion for improving things.

Why are you a good candidate? What are your unique selling points?

  • Over 14 years as a production engineer in the automotive industry
  • Experience with setting up new purpose-built factories and streamlining older well-established ones.
  • Experience working in the oil & gas sector.
  • Extensive experience of FMEA, Process Control, DMAIC, Kanban, 8D reporting, Kaizen / Continuous improvement techniques, Process and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Trained also in Health and Safety, and internal auditing for ISO9001 and ISO14001.

3 greatest professional achievements:

  1. Whilst working at a previous company, I specified and co-ordinated the reorganisation of the factory layout, creating more efficient 'U'-shaped lines, successfully, introduced one-piece flow methodology, and started a process improvement' scheme. This brought about labour savings of 27%, whilst saving 38% of the floor space for further expansion, and reduced WIP by 50 %.

  2. More recently, the Master Production schedule was originally updated manually by the Production Manager daily in my last role. This was time-consuming, constantly out of date and prone to errors. I mastered the SAP system, and was able to link the Planner to the real time SAP data so it refreshed every 15 seconds, providing a reliable data source for all departments, improving efficiency levels and reducing errors which impacted on the whole production floor.

  3. I was the sole Production Engineer for many years in a previous company, I facilitated an increase in output from £2M to over £44M turnover in less than 10 years, whilst reducing labour costs as a percentage of sales from 15% to 8%, through continuous improvement.

3 most important things about next move:

  1. Small to medium size operation, who are looking to grow and ready to embrace lean methodologies

  2. Friendly team and openminded workforce with regards to Continuous Improvement

  3. Location, accessible and within a reasonable distance from Greater Manchester
